Louis Martin Welch, BM1c, U.S. Coast Guard, W.W.II

Louis Martin "Marty" Welch enlisted July 22, 1942 in Boston, and was assigned to CG 38. A few months later, he was commanding officer of CGR 2515. During 1943 he served on board the CG 1026, CG 831, CG 47019, CG 38673, and CG 30317. He then served at CG Repair Base, Constitution Warf, Boston, where he was master-at-arms in charge of the boatswain's locker. Marty Welch completed 41 months of active duty, and served 10 months outside the continental limits of the U.S.
